BIOGRAPHY
Mayowa Owolabi is a business architect,
business facilitator, and Tech entrepreneur.
He is a graduate of Electronics and
Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife
and He has over 16 years experience in technology business development and the
use of ICT in deploying enterprise services and solutions. He co-founded one of
the first e-commerce platforms in 2011 – www.buynownow.com and sold to
shoppi.ng in 2013 and exited his first mobile financial services company –
dudupay in 2014.
He has consulted for Nokia Corporation,
EiE Nigeria (Enough is Enough Nigeria), Mtech Communications, INEC, Chams Plc,
Etisalat, Oyo State, Lagos State and Ekiti State Governments, Blackberry,
Tecno/Transsion, Firstmonie, Africa Internet Holdings (Rocket Internet),
Naspers, RedBus, Boston Consulting Group, TELNET Group, Flutterwave, USAID
(payments advisor for the Power Africa Project) ...to name a few.
He founded Afara Partners , a fintech
operating in the payments solutions space and also one of the co-
founders/conveners of Mobile Monday (www.momonigeria.org) in Nigeria and is a
member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG – www.nesgroup.org). He is
active in the startup scene and is an advisor to several companies and
stakeholders.
He is also the CEO and Co-Founder of
PaddyCover (www.paddycover.com) , an Insurtech company providing solutions for
underwriters and aggregators and pioneering embedded insurance in Africa
starting from Nigeria.
